**Job Summary**
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Utah invites applications for an immediate postdoctoral position in Dr. Paul S. Bernstein’s laboratory. The research focuses on the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of very long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids ( VLC -PUFAs) in the pathogenesis of retinal diseases such as Stargardt disease and age-related macular degeneration ( AMD ). The successful candidate will be involved in designing and conducting research projects and will receive advanced training to further develop professional skills and research independence for a successful career. The Bernstein Lab, situated on the upper campus of the University of Utah, benefits from extensive access to state-of-the-art core facilities and resources, as well as a vibrant collaborative research community.
**Responsibilities**
**Minimum Qualifications**
We seek highly motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD/PhD in pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or neuroscience.
Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated record of achievements and publications, and experience in retinal degeneration research, lipidomics, mutagenesis, CRISPR -Cas9 gene editing, immunohistochemistry ( IHC ), iPS cells, retinal organoids, mammalian cell cultures, confocal fluorescence microscopy, Visiobox, and retinal degeneration zebrafish/mouse models.
