Synthetic organic chemist position focused on the design and construction of novel molecules towards first-in-class chemical tools and preclinical lead molecules. The post-doctoral scholar will be responsible for the design, construction and characterization of novel heterocyclic molecules possessing improved potency and selectivity. For each project we have partnered with leading external research experts to facilitate the interrogation of the compound’s biological activity. Thus, this position is dedicated to the development of new synthetic methods and routes to the target scaffolds and their application to construct new high impact molecules. Research is conducted within the highly collaborative environment of the UNC Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. Numerous opportunities exist at UNC for presenting research and developing new skills (i.e. workshops, short courses, internships and collaborations).
