Recruitment/Posting Title Post-Doctoral Associate Department SASN -Math & Computer Science Salary Open Posting Summary We invite applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position beginning September 1, 2024 at the Innovation at Rutgers University, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (SASM) within a research project in partnership with a Fintech company. We specifically seek an individual with strong mathematical training and interests in the Fintech sector. Interest or expertise in adjacent areas of theoretical foundations of applied mathematics and machine learning would be beneficial. The project is part of a multi-year research project in partnership with Fintech’s Data Science and Analytics team and the Rutgers SASN Data Science. This is a calendar year appointment.Under the direction of the Director of Data Science and working with other faculty, your duties will include, but are not limited to: Conduct and manage research on the grant-funded Fiserv research projects and program activities in support of data science research. Collaborate and schedule meetings with the Fiserv Data Science and Analytics research director to support research projects. Manage a team of undergraduate data science research interns by providing project scoping, documentation, and management using the DS-ML Workflow framework and Agile process. Assist in generating Fiserv communications and presentations.

Function as technical lead to the research team by providing the following. Model selection exploration, code reviews and mini-lectures to connect DS-ML models to math concepts. Plan and schedule White board sessions to deliver and discuss (a) Utilize Python, SQL, R, Julia to apply advanced statistical and geo-spatial modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques to extract insights from complex, large-scale datasets. Introduce research intern team and DS faculty to applicable math concepts such as Nonconvex Optimization, Population dynamics in ecosystems, non-local dynamical system, PDE techniques in Data Analysis, Gradient systems, Optimal Transport, Stochastic Calculus OR other advanced Machine Learning techniques and math concepts. Research, apply and introduce the research intern team to the latest and applicable techniques in geo-spatial and classification modelling. Report to and collaborate with the Director of Data Science to manage the Fiserv research projects and deliverables. Develop EDD II (21:219:106 Everyday Data II) lecture modules, in real time, when necessary to support research intern learning and integration of new DS-ML techniques. Teach one Spring 2024 course in Data Science based on Fiserv research agenda to support student reinforcement learning process (Experience to classroom/Classroom to Experience). Participate in appropriate departmental SASN, RU-N functions.
