Job Description:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking candidate for a position at the level of Post-doctoral Associate. This position is available at the Florida Institute for National Security (FINS) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) and the University of Florida.

The preferred candidate should possess a background in applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research in hardware security and assurance, specifically in reverse engineering of both integrated circuits (IC) and printed circuit boards (PCB). Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate expertise in applying computer vision, image analysis techniques, machine learning, deep learning to IC and PCB reverse engineering as well as expertise in areas of explainable AI, causal AI, and reinforcement learning.

Duties will include, but not be limited to, conducting research on the development of machine learning methods for assurance on hardware devices like PCBs and ICs as well as on the development of automated hardware reverse engineering approaches at the IC and PCB levels for design recovery. Primary responsibilities will also encompass project management to meet project deliverable commitments including tasks such as organizing weekly project meetings, mentoring students, software prototyping, creation of scholarly publications, and the delivery of presentations to share research outcomes. This role will also involve collaborations with FINS faculty, sponsors, and partners for overseeing grant-funded projects, paving the way for future collaborations and crafting proposals for funding from industry and government-level agencies.

Expected Salary:

$58,656 - $65,000; commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess a PhD in electrical engineering or a related field and some project management or teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess a PhD in electrical engineering or a related field and some project management or teaching experience. An exemplary candidate will have a proven record of scholarly contributions, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and patent applications, showcasing their research proficiency and creativity. Teaching and mentoring experience is highly valued, as the candidate is expected to collaboratively mentor graduate students in the laboratory and actively contribute to the development and composition of new research proposals for securing external research funding.
