Post- Doctoral Associate in the Division of Engineering - Dr. Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem
New York University
Description
The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a motivated Post- Doctoral Associate to work under the supervision of Prof. Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem on the physical layer design of programmable metasurfaces enabled wireless communication systems.
The candidate will investigate the role of programmable metasurfaces as reconfigurable holographic surfaces (RHSs) to enable ultra-massive/holographic MIMO communication systems, and as reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) to enable controlled reflections of electromagnetic waves in the propagation environment. The candidate is expected to carry out cutting-edge research on the physical layer design and optimization of RHS-enabled or RIS-assisted MIMO communication systems using tools from information theory, statistical signal processing, optimization theory, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The candidate is expected to actively participate in experimental work focused on building datasets of channel measurements for RIS enabled communication environments, as well as processing and analyzing the collected data.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, telecommunications, or related field. Other requirements include:
+ Proven track record of publications in IEEE Communications Society’s and IEEE Signal Processing Society’s journals and conferences.
+ Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, machine learning, and optimization theory.
+ Strong verbal and written skills in English.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and capacity to pursue independent research.
In addition to the above qualifications, it is desirable that the applicants have:
+ Experience working with software defined radios and experimental testbeds for wireless communication systems.
+ Research background in one or more of the following areas: reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, massive MIMO, integrated space-air-ground networks.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae with a full publication list, transcripts of Master’s and PhD degrees, research statement, and contact details of at least three references, all in PDF format via Interfolio.
The terms of employment are very competitive and include substantial benefits such as generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children, medical insurance, and relocation benefits.
