**Job Summary:**
Key Responsibilities:
+ The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Collect data from a range of in vivo physiological and behavioral studies predominantly in genetic mouse models, learn a variety of surgeries, learn gold standard methodologies to study glucose and lipid metabolism, and will use neuroscience, molecular biological, and immunohistochemistry techniques.
+ Will be responsible for working with the PI to direct research projects which will include experimental design, data collection, analysis (graphing and statistics), quality control, and writing manuscripts and grant proposals.
+ Work well independently and as a member of a highly collaborative team.
+ Maintain detailed and organized research notes, write research manuscripts and grant proposals.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD and or MD in nutrition, physiology, neuroscience, or related biological science discipline.
+ Recent research experience and publications relevant to metabolism, neuroscience, or physiology.
**Condition of Employment:**
+ **Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado**
+ **_Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check_**
**_Preferred Qualifications:_**
+ _Proven experience and familiarity with obesity and nutrition animal models; small rodent handling and basic procedures (gavage, intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections), and basic tools of assessment of glucose homeostasis in animal models._
+ _Demonstrated proficiency computer software, equipment operation, or research technical skills_
+ _Proven ability to work independently within a research lab_

This is a full-time postdoctoral position in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The fellow will report to Dr. Darleen Sandoval, and will be responsible for conducting research understanding the role of the gut-brain axis in metabolism. - this role is expected to work onsite.
The Sandoval lab is housed within the Adult Endocrinology floor in Research South building 1 on the Anschutz Medical Campus. We have an interactive lab with multiple collaborations and interactive projects.
