We study glial cells - the non-neuronal cells in the brain. Although understudied, glial cells comprise more than half of our brains, and understanding how they contribute to brain function is a big question in the field. More specifically, our lab is focused on glial epigenetics, and are interested in the question of how glial epigenetics shape animal behaviors, with an emphasis on behaviors of smell. Using transgenic mouse models, our approaches include molecular neuroscience, cellular neuroscience and systems neuroscience, with the primary goal of understanding how glial epigenetics shape sense of smell. It is not required to be an expert in the above key responsibilities, since Dr. Debo Sardar will train you as needed. However, prior technical experience with mouse handling, stereotaxis surgery, and analyzing bioinformatic data is highly desirable. This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO. You will be working in an environment conducting new neuroscience research in the areas of sensory biology (systems neuroscience), glial biology (cellular neuroscience), and epigenomics (molecular neuroscience).
