Post Doctoral Fellow - Neurotoxicologist and Biomarker
Why Patients Need You

Pfizer’s purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. Research and Development (R&D) is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer’s purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies and vaccines that matter most. As a post-doctoral scientist in Comparative Medicine - Drug Safety R&D (CM-DSRD) organization, you will apply cutting edge technologies to accelerate and bring the best-in-class and safe medicines to patients around the world.

What You Will Achieve

As a Post-doctoral Fellow, you will be part of Animal Models and Imaging (AMI) group within the Global Discovery, Investigative and Translational Sciences (GDITS) team. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary and talented scientists towards development of assays and safety biomarkers to predict neurotoxicity of drug candidates prior to human clinical trials and investigate the pathogenesis of neurotoxicity by selected molecules. Your goals will be:

Establish an in vitro system using human iPSC-derived and rodent primary sensory neurons in-house to explore translatable safety biomarkers of peripheral neuropathy.

Test mechanistic hypothesis and interventions to further define the pathogenesis of neurotoxicity on human iPSC derived neurons and rodent primary sensory neurons.

Your strong foundation in cellular neurophysiology, neuropharmacology or neurotoxicology, molecular and in vitro techniques, and related principles and concepts will enable you to assess the assigned tasks and design approaches that involve direct application of your knowledge.

It is your dedication, innovative ideas, and focus that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help oncology patients across the globe.

How You Will Achieve It

Driving innovation, independent thinking, problem solving, and meticulous design, execution and interpretation of experiments under minimal supervision.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary, investigative CM-DSRD teams and scientists working on in vitro assays assessing cellular/neurotoxicity using various platforms (including MultiOmics and Biomarkers).

Work with mentors and develop and apply complex in vitro assays for exploring translatable biomarkers on human iPSC derived neurons. Refine the biomarkers and benchmark with known tool compounds.

Develop and apply complex in vitro assays for exploring translatable biomarkers using human iPSC-derived neurons.

Present the research work at various internal and external meetings and conferences and publish in relevant peer-reviewed journals.

Contribute to building a culture that embraces scientific excellence, urgency, partnerships with key stakeholders, continuous learning and improvement, increasing technical skill base and neurotoxicology expertise.

Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are carried out according to scientific, ethical and regulatory standards.
