DescriptionThe School of Nursing is seeking a post-doctoral fellow who will focus on a broad range of topics related to digital health research for community-dwelling older adults, including mobility, social connectedness, caregiving, sensor-based monitoring, technology adoption and engagement, and digital health equity. The fellow has training opportunities in quantitative data analysis, speech and activity sensing data processing, community-engaged informatics research, qualitative methods, and grant writing from experts in the School of Nursing and other disciplines. The scholar will also get involved in analysis of existing data sets, manuscript writing, and build collaborations with community members and various domain experts across multiple institutions and disciplines. The scholar will be provided with an individualized training program and mentorship with the goal of enhancing their publication record and helping them to prepare a competitive K award or other grant application.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a Ph.D. in nursing, psychology, gerontology, social work, public health, biomedical informatics, electrical/computer engineering, computer/data sciences or other related fields.
- Has a high research interest in technology development, testing, and evaluation for supporting healthy aging.
- Has experience working with an investigative team that has conducted digital health research with community-dwelling older adults
