Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Biostatistics

The Biostatistics Division in the Department of Public Health Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a post-doctoral research associate. The research associate will work with Dr. Guofen Yan and Dr. Julia Scialla and other collaborators in development and application of novel statistical methods for analyzing large EHR data with application in kidney disease research. The work for this position will include, but not limited to, statistical methods for modeling sequences of laboratory test data, joint modeling of testing data and clinical endpoints, and data mining and machine learning approaches as appropriate. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in the development of publications for peer-reviewed journals, as well as on grant proposals to funding agencies.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in biostatistics, statistics or a related quantitative field, required in hand by appointment start date. Research experience in longitudinal and survival models, Markov models, or causal inference is preferred, including proficiency in R and SAS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

This position requires American citizenship or a Green Card holder.
