Post Doctoral Researcher, Physics and Astronomy Job no: 501428 College / VP Area:College of Arts & Sciences Work type: Staff Location: Newark Categories: Research & Laboratory, Full Time The theoretical physics group at the University of Delaware and theoretical physics group at Johns Hopkins university are anticipating the appointment of a joint 3-year postdoctoral position starting in September 2025. The area of focus of this appointment is particle phenomenology broadly defined. The host at the University of Delaware will be Harikrishnan Ramani while the Hopkins group is lead by David Kaplan and Surjeet Rajendran. The successful candidate will have expertise in theoretical particle physics and a PhD in physics or a related discipline. Context of the Job Conduct research in theoretical particle physics and collaborate with the theoretical physics group. Major Responsibilities + Investigate new approaches to searching for physics beyond the Standard Model including: + New ideas for probing theoretically motivated dark matter candidates + New probes of early universe cosmology + Understanding constraints on new forces from structure formation + Collaborate closely with research group members at Delaware and Johns Hopkins University, colleagues, and the supervisor to review and refine research strategies. + Prepare and organize materials for research papers, author papers, and submit findings to scientific journals. + Create presentations, posters, and materials for conferences and scientific meetings. + Assist in the supervision and mentorship of graduate students. + Support the evaluation and discussion of other research groups' work through analysis of published studies and conference presentations. + Help shape and refine research goals within the group. Qualifications + PhD in Physics or related fields.
