Required Related Experience In-depth understanding of equine reproductive and/or endometrial physiology. Practical skills in extracellular vesicle biology, molecular biology and/or cell culture. Scientific writing experience. Required License/Registration/Certification N/A Physical Requirements Work in the laboratory may require long periods of standing or sitting. The successful applicant will also be required to work with horses during sample collection. Shift Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, but may vary depending on experiments. Job Summary The scholar will conduct research on embryo-maternal communication as directed by their mentor. In addition, the scholar may participate in the training of graduate students in various lab techniques and procedures.

An initial 12-month postdoctoral scholar position is available at the Gluck Equine Research Center, University of Kentucky, under the supervision of Dr. Tom Stout. An extension of up to 2 years will be possible, based on satisfactory progress. The successful applicant will engage in research into embryo-maternal signaling during early pregnancy, with an emphasis on the role of extracellular vesicles and secreted proteins and miRNAs. Opportunities to explore 3D endometrial cell culture techniques to allow targeted investigation of aspects of embryo-maternal communication, along with development of transcriptomic, proteomic, flow cytometric and advanced microscopic techniques will be supported. Preferred qualifications include enthusiasm, professionalism, excellent communication and soft skills. The successful candidate will have a strong academic record, and a desire to work at the interface of reproductive biology and horse breeding. Candidates must have a PhD degree in Veterinary Science, Equine Science, Animal Science or Biological Sciences.
