Postdoctoral Appointee: Microelectronics (Diamond synthesis, nanofabrication)

The Nanoscience and Technology Division (NST) at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is looking for experimental postdoctoral candidate in the area of synthesis of single crystal diamond and their heterointegration with other materials for developing energy efficient devices. The postdoctoral candidate will be a part of highly collaborative research team focusing on the synthesis and characterization aspect of single crystal diamond utilizing microwave plasma CVD available at NST.

The candidate is expected to work on developing synthesizing single crystal diamond and finding novel ways in integrating diamond with other semiconductor materials. The studies will involve fabrication of heterojunction devices as well as detail characterization of the interface using various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.

Position Requirements

A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied physics, or related field. Must have been received within the last 5 years or upcoming year.Normal daytime work hours at the Argonne site, but occasional travel and some overtime/nighttime may be required.Ability to work independently with minimal direction in day-to-day research tasksAbility to model Argonne's core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

Considerable:

Expert in the CVD growth of single crystal diamond and fabrication of devices.Experience in using various characterization tools including Raman, TEM, XPS, XRDExcellent written and oral communication skills.Collaboration skills and the ability to work with a team in an interdisciplinary environment.

Desirable:

Experience in working in the cleanroom with standard nanofabrication process flow

The expected hiring range for this position is $70,758.00 - $110,379.55.
