The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking postdoctoral researchers to work on distributed quantum computing. The project aims to develop superconducting qubit-based quantum processors and connect them via a campus-scale fiber-optic network. The postdocs will design and fabricate superconducting transmon qubits and microwave-optical quantum transducers and characterize the devices in a dilution refrigerator. The postdocs will work with other team members and collaborators to perform remote quantum transduction and computing experiments in the quantum network. The project will take advantage of CNM’s state-of-the-art facilitates and capabilities; in particular, the CNM cleanroom for nanofabrication and the dilution refrigerator in the Quantum Matter and Device Lab for low--temperature quantum experiments.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly collaborative team and actively interact with Argonne and UChicago scientists as well as external collaborators. The candidate should have a strong background in experimental physics and/or engineering, or in a relevant field. Experience in superconducting qubits, nanofabrication, photonics, and low-temperature experiments are highly preferred.
