The position at the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) offers an exciting opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and collegial environment using state-of-the-art facilities including insectaries, surface plasmon resonance, multiparameter flow cytometry with single cell sorting and sequencing, transcriptomics, multimodal imaging, spacial proteomics, and animal model systems to study host pathogen interactions. Some projects take place in high and maximum containment laboratories (BSL-3 and BSL-4), with training provided. The successful candidate will work with human and animal-derived cells and tissue samples, design and execute experiments independently and collaboratively, maintain and organize data, and contribute to general laboratory operations while ensuring a safe research environment. Responsibilities also include manuscript and grant writing, presenting at laboratory and departmental meetings, and external presentation of research. Established experience in the following areas is desirable: (1) mammalian cell culture, (2) immunologic assays, (3) flow cytometry and cell sorting, (4) advanced immunology and molecular biology techniques, (5) virus culture, purification, and quantification (6) prior work with animal models is helpful but not required.
