The Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications for one postdoctoral researcher to work on the topic of mineral detection of dark matter and neutrinos as part of an NSF Growing Convergence Research project. This project brings together researchers from engineering, physics, geo- and materials sciences with the goal of establishing a convergence framework to address the feasibility of mineral detection of dark matter.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the areas of experimental high energy or nuclear or solid state physics in the context of mineral detection of dark matter. Candidates with a background in nuclear or solid state physics are also encouraged to apply. Duties may also include supervising and coordinating the work of other researchers and personnel, especially graduate and undergraduate students, and development of future efforts. The successful candidate will be based in Blacksburg, VA but will be required to travel for conference presentations and international collaboration.
