Job Description: Applications are invited for a postdoctoral associate position with an immediate opening in Professor Michele V. Manuel’s group at the University of Florida.  The position will be in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.  The department is a highly collaborative environment, and Professor Manuel’s group studies a range of materials from lightweight alloys to ferrous alloys using alloy design and advanced manufacturing techniques.  Highly motivated individuals are sought to develop advanced alloys through the use of computational thermodynamics and kinetics. Expected Salary:

$50,000

Minimum Requirements:

The candidate must have obtained their Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering or a similar field before employment. 

Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in computational thermodynamic and kinetic database development and assessment is preferred.  It is expected that the individual will be highly motivated and can work independently and be part of a highly diverse research group.  The candidate should have a solid publication history and strong verbal and written communications skills in English.  Additionally, the individual is expected to give conference talks, prepare manuscripts and reports, participate in meetings, and play a significant role in preparing grants.  They are also expected to assist in managing and supervising both graduate and undergraduate students.
