Postdoctoral Associate + Job Number: 24781 + Functional Area: Research - Engineering + Department: Mechanical Engineering + School Area: Engineering + Employment Type: Full-Time + Employment Category: Exempt + Visa Sponsorship Available: Yes + Schedule: Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Posting Description POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Mechanical Engineering, will join the Mechatronics Research Lab that aims to develop intelligent mechatronic systems by applying data-driven learning techniques to mechanical systems and be responsible for the instrumentation, communication and actuation system design including refining the system and for the socio-technical energy behavior prediction phase of the project. The focus of this project includes assessing the socio-technical potential for transactive energy communities and will be interdisciplinary and involve collaboration with internal and external colleagues. Job Requirements REQUIRED: PhD degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related fields with a solid background in hardware development and practical implementation experience; demonstrated competence in one or more areas in (i) in-depth theoretical knowledge of data-driven algorithm development and control theory, (ii) practical coding capability for implementation of efficient algorithms using various architectures, (iii) interested in performing independent research to apply data-driven algorithms to solve practical, (iv) prior publication or project experience in predictive maintenance, (v) hands-on experience implementing algorithms on resource-constrained mechatronic hardware platforms; solid organizational and planning skills to execute research tasks in a coordinated manner; proficient writing and presentation skills to disseminate research results to both experts in the fields and generic public; and the capacity to work in a diverse team with multiple research groups and mentor junior researchers. PREFFERED: expertise in machine learning, predictive maintenance, and control algorithms; and enthusiasm about applying data-driven techniques to mechatronic system hardware. Job #24781 1/15/2025
