Job Description


Seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Loretta Li’s laboratory at Lurie Children’s Hospital / Northwestern University. We are a recently established translational leukemia research laboratory that uses a variety of biochemical, molecular, and cell biology approaches to identify new therapeutic targets, develop preclinical models of disease, and test novel therapeutics both in vitro and in vivo using mouse models. Much of the lab’s work to date has focused on Philadelphia chromosome (Ph) like B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The successful candidate will be a team player capable of handling multiple tasks and adaptable to a fast-paced research environment.
 

Job Duties:

Provide researchers as requested with technical assistance. Performs job functions adhering to principals of innovation, academic excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality research effort to our Institution, co-workers and others.Genetic studies, molecular biology Redcap/ Imaging software, gene chip arrays and others.Analyzing data.Preparing data for presentations, grants and publications.Help write grant proposals and progress reports related to research projects.  Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.  Designing and conducting laboratory experiments to advance the research progress in the lab.Skilled handling of mice as needed to meet project goals.Analyzing data and troubleshooting experiments as needed.Maintaining detailed records of their laboratory work, results, and data analyses.Preparing presentations for lab meetings, journal clubs, research seminars, and research conferences.Synthesizing data and generating figures for grants, manuscripts, and presentations at the local, national, and international level.Working with the principal investigator to write grant proposals and progress reports related to the research project.Supervision and training of students and technicians in the lab.Sharing in the responsibilities of routine laboratory maintenance.Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Ph. D. or MD in Medical or Biological Science Program.Knowledge in Computer programs, word, excel and power point presentations.Excellent writing and communication skills.Organizational skills:  Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
