Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology within the School of Public Health. The postdoc will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Stefania Papatheodorou, Associate Professor, in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology to examine the impact of climate change, air pollution and socioeconomic environment on pregnancy and child health using administrative databases (e.g., medical claims, birth registries and electronic health records). The postdoc will be responsible for research activities such as developing study protocols, conducting data analysis, presenting at scientific meetings, and writing manuscripts. There will also be opportunities to develop new projects through grant writing. Applicants should have the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. The postdoc will be encouraged to develop their own independent research program.

The postdoc’s day-to-day work will include database management, statistical analysis, manuscript writing, and mentorship of students/trainees. There will be opportunities for authorship on publications, presentation at local and national conferences, and collaboration on grant proposal development. With an expected hire date of Spring-Summer 2024, the 12-month position comes with a one-year hire commitment, and further extension, depending on funding availability and performance.

Duties include: Manage databases, develop analytical plans, and carry out statistical analysis for manuscripts, reports and presentations using R. Link and create exposure profiles during pregnancy for air pollutants and climate-related datasets. Lead, draft, and publish papers, including first-authored papers, in peer-reviewed journals. Give oral presentations to disseminate research findings.
