Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for NJMS- International Center for Public Health. Postdoctoral role studies the mechanism of fungal inositol function in the human fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans. By applying molecular biology, biochemistry and system biology, we aim to investigate the molecular basis of Cryptococcus-host interactions and antifungal drug resistance. Successful candidate is responsible to design and conduct highly specialized molecular research in the area of Cryptococcus pathogenesis under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Collecting data and preparing reports for peer- reviewed scientific publications and conference presentations, and contributes to the writing of grants.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Conducts research activities on projects to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Cryptococcus-host interactions, focusing on the role of fungal phospholipids in antifungal drug resistance and fungal pathogenesis, independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions. Interfaces with internal and external collaborators on the research projects. Generates, compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity. Trains new students and visitors in research area focused on Cryptococcus pathogenesis and antifungal resistance. Provides managerial support for the daily operations within the Xue Lab.
