Job Details:

Purpose

Dr. Emily Porter’s Electromagnetic Technologies Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking an experienced researcher to perform research on microwave radar techniques for assessing concrete structures, as well as to perform supporting work in maintaining the laboratory equipment and supplies. Through this short-term collaborative project, the research will tackle the ability of microwave radar to sense concrete structures through computational simulations to assess resolution and localization capabilities.

Responsibilities

Research design, modelling, simulations, and data analysis to study microwave radar-based imaging for assessing concrete structures

Collaborate with other team members from Civil Engineering and industry partner

Attend weekly meetings with team and present weekly research updates

Maintain computer servers and computational licenses.

Other related functions as assigned

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field within the past 3 years

Experience designing and conducting simulations with computational electromagnetic solvers (e.g., HFSS, CST, COMSOL)

Experience with antenna and array design and simulation

Experience with radar-based image reconstruction and/or multi-element antenna array data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with dielectric characterization of materials and modelling of dielectric materials

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Able to work independently and as a team member

Salary Range

$70,560

Working Conditions

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
