Posting Number ACAD478 Job Title Postdoctoral Fellow Position Title Postdoctoral Fellow Position Type Other Academic Number of vacancies 1 Salary $50,000.00 Department Micro/Biochem/Immun (MBI) Position Summary The Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Immunology at Morehouse School of Medicine is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Erica L. Johnson. The postdoctoral fellow will lead multidisciplinary projects aimed at understanding the epigenetic basis for health disparities in pregnant women and infants (R01-funded). The applicants should hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) and have strong training in genetics, molecular biology, immunology cell biology, developmental biology, and/or epigenetics. Expertise in bioinformatics is strongly desired. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong track record of research productivity, scientific rigor, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Minimum Qualifications Education: PhD or MD in biomedical science from an accredited college or university

Job Duties Description of Job Duty POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Pro-actively and semi-independently lead a project focused on the investigating the impact of socially-structure trauma on epigenetic programming and adverse immunological outcomes in the mother-baby pair. Independently performs a wide range of highly technical and complex research and experiments at the request of the principal investigator. Receive and processing human blood and tissue samples, which at times requires non-standard working hours. Collaborate and synergize with other members of the lab to promote lab synergies. Provide expertise and work collaboratively on other projects in the laboratory, as assigned. Compiles and analyzes data for publications, grants, and seminar presentations. Review literature for related research developments and techniques. Mentor and train graduate students and other learners. Apply for independent funding mechanisms to support training and career development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform other duties assigned by the PI, i.e., train and oversee graduate students and participate in other laboratory activities. Pre-Employment/Employment Requirements
