A full-time postdoctoral position is immediately available for behavioral pharmacology research at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (in Camden, NJ) using rodent models of substance use disorders and analgesia to investigate novel experimental treatments.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in pharmacology, neuroscience, biochemistry, or a closely related field. Research experience in rodent behavioral pharmacology or behavioral neuroscience is expected as the position will require extensive handling and behavioral testing of mice and rats. Additional experience in IV jugular vein catheterization surgeries and statistical analyses of behavioral data are highly desirable, as are strong abilities in scientific writing and oral communication.
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments funded by current NIH and foundation grants, as well as generating new ideas to advance current research under the guidance of Dr. Thomas M. Keck. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to drive the preparation and publication of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and apply for appropriate funding opportunities for trainees. This position involves an excellent chance to build mentorship skills via the training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates interested in teaching experience as additional preparation for an academic career will be given reasonable opportunities to build these skillsets.
