Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship in Childhood Adversity/Trauma for September 2025
Clinical and Research/Clinical Positions

Excellent opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team under the direction of Esther Deblinger, Ph.D., co-developer of Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). The CARES Institute is offering full-time clinical and research/clinical postdoctoral fellowships in childhood adversity/trauma.

The clinical position includes conducting assessments of children who have experienced trauma/maltreatment, providing evidence-based therapy to children and families impacted by child sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other traumas, and conducting mental health screenings for children entering foster care.

The research/clinical position includes participating in research related to childhood adversity/trauma and resilience under Dr. Deblinger’s guidance. The CARES Institute has conducted cutting-edge research on childhood PTSD, TF-CBT, child sexual abuse and child physical abuse, sexual behavior problems, implementation, outcome, and dissemination science, and secondary traumatic stress among professionals. Possible clinical opportunities may include the assessment and evidence-based treatment of children who have experienced trauma and their families. The balance of research and clinical responsibilities is flexible and will take into consideration the candidate’s interests and academic focus.

A doctoral degree in Psychology is required and child clinical experience is preferred. A strong research background is preferred for the research/clinical position. A record of respect and openness towards people whose social and cultural background is different from one’s own is required. There may be the possibility of some remote work.
