Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage field projects involving eddy covariance instrumentation, trace gas analyzers, and other related equipment.
This includes coordinating field preparations, setting up instrumentation, collecting data, and performing data analysis.
• Perform regular maintenance on all research instrumentation.
• Keep accurate records of experiments and data.
• Analyze data and write research articles for peer-reviewed publications.
• Prepare extension factsheets and publications and participate in outreach activities as needed.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students and supervise field data collection and data analysis activities.
Other duties as required.
Required skills, knowledge and abilities:
• Ability to work long days in the field
• Capable of lifting heavy objects (40+ pounds).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to learn new laboratory and field instrumentation.
Preferred skills, knowledge and abilities:
•A solid understanding of field safety related to mechanical and electronic equipment.
• Basic programming skills in Matlab, R, SAS, or Python.
• Experience with scientific research equipment in agricultural fields or similar settings.
• Proficiency in conducting research with sensor technologies.
• Proficiency in data analysis and writing peer-reviewed journal papers.
Educational Requirements:
Ph. D in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural or Environmental Engineering or a similar discipline
Preferred licenses or certifications for this position.
Texas Driver’s license as the job requires traveling to the project sites.
