Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
-A pply cutting-edge molecular biology techniques within mosquito-arbovirus models to study pathogen-vector-host interactions in vector-borne diseases. -Leading research projects, optimizing lab processes and experiments, -Contributing to the mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, -Writing research papers, assisting with grant writing, and presenting experimental data at scientific meetings.
-Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
-Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology, Entomology, or a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- More than 5 years of research experience in relevant fi elds, including medical entomology, molecular biology, virology, and microbiology
- Experience with cellular, virology, immunology and microscopy techniques
- Extensive hands-on experience in raising/rearing mosquitoes and performing/applying advanced/cutting-edge molecular techniques in mosquito-arbovirus research systems
- Experience as a lab manager with the ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring laboratory efficiency and collaboration
Required knowledge, skills or abilities
- Ability to analyze complex research data and utilize statistical tools to identify meaningful trends and draw insightful conclusions
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a strong focus on fostering an environment of open idea sharing and mutual support within the research group
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple research projects, ensuring high standards of process improvement, research development, and experimental design
-Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Proficiency in a wide range of cellular, molecular biology, immunology, and microscopy techniques, such as real-time PCR (rt-PCR), virus titration, plaque assays, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy
- Strong knowledge/understanding of medical entomology and pathogen-vector-host interactions within the context of vector-borne disease transmission cycles.
