What we want The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise. This position of Postdoctoral Research Associate is in the Texas A&M University Department of Neuroscience in the Souza Lab. The successful candidate will join a research lab focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in aging and Dementia after circadian dysregulation. Major techniques of the laboratory include rodent surgeries, behaviora l analysis, flow cytometry , electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence & confocal microscopy, bioinformatics. Experience with Flow cytometry or electrophysiology is a plus. Required Education and Experience + Appropriate PhD in a related field ​Preferred Qualifications + PhD. in Animal Science, Neurobiology, Biology, or related fields + Experience in cell culture + Experience in in vivo rodent surgery + Experience in behavioral screening + Experience in Immunofluorescence + Experience in Western Blot + Experience in RNA isolation + Experience with Flow cytometry or electrophysiology + Small animal surgeries, histology, fluorescent and confocal microscopy, cell culture + Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal skills + Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Excellent verbal and written skills + Presentation skills + Analytical skills + Attention to detail Responsibilities + Research: Under general supervision, conducts research into their field of expertise. Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. Analyzes research data and summarizes results. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. + Mentoring: May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project. + Presentations: Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors. + General Lab Duties: Performs mouse surgeries including EEG implantation. Performs behavioral assessments. Performs brain and histology and microscopy imaging. Collects, records, maintains and analyzes experimental/research data. Prepares manuscripts for publication of research results. Assists in managing mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping, and recordkeeping. Why Texas A&M University?
