Postdoctoral Research Fellow- CTCR-The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Basic and Translational Cancer Research on Therapy Resistance

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Xiangdong Lyu at the Center for Translational Cancer Research, Institute of Molecular Medicine, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth-Houston).

Recruited through a CPRIT Scholar award, Dr. Lyu will join UTHealth-Houston as a tenure-track assistant professor starting from February 1st, 2025. Dr. Lyu conducted research as a DOD Breakthrough Fellowship Awardee at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Lyu received his Ph.D. from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his B.S. degree from Shandong University.

The Lyu lab focuses on understanding how cancer cells sense and respond to stresses from the tumor microenvironment and therapeutic interventions. By investigating the molecular mechanisms of key stress responses and signaling pathways that drive tumorigenesis and resistance to targeted therapy and chemotherapy, the lab aims to develop innovative, mechanism-based strategies to overcome these resistances.

Dr. Lyu has published multiple first/co-first author papers in prestigious journals, such as: Science (PMID: 37676964), PLoS Biology (PMID: 24302888), Cell Research (PMID: 27002220), Development (PMID: 37013244), Journal of Biological Chemistry (PMID: 23532857), Journal of Molecular Cell Biology (PMID: 29924323, and 29432547), Journal of Visualized Experiments (PMID: 32478757).

The Lyu lab is well funded by the CPRIT award ($2,000,000) and generous startup funding from the UTHealth-Houston, enabling cutting-edge basic and translational cancer research.
