Job Summary
The Petroleum Engineering Program at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on Carbon Dioxide (CO2) geological storage and its application to gas and oil recovery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of carbon storage, enhanced recovery, and sustainable energy technologies. The successful candidate will preferably have a track record of publication in peer-reviewed international journals with good communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct research on CO2 geological storage and its integration into shale gas and oil recovery processes.
Develop and perform experimental, analytical, and numerical modeling of coupled processes in porous media, particularly for low-permeability shale reservoirs.
Investigate the effects of reservoir properties and assess the monitorability of operations.
Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner.
Present research findings to internal stakeholders, external collaborators, and at professional conferences.
Contribute to the advancement of the Petroleum Engineering program at TAMIU by participating in academic activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department.

Minimum Requirements
Education - Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
Experience - Analytical methods, and numerical modeling related to coupled processes.
Strong background in flow dynamics in porous media.
Preferred Experience
A track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
Experience with CO2 geological storage, enhanced shale gas/oil recovery, or related energy technologies.
Experience in low-permeability or unconventional reservoirs.
Familiarity with high-performance computing and advanced simulation tools (e.g., CMG, PETREL, COMSOL, MATLAB, Python).
Experience with experimental setups including core flooding and PVT visual cell.
Prior experience presenting research to diverse audiences.
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to:
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Proven ability to conduct independent research and produce high-quality publications.

Other Requirements
Grant funded position for the period of January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025.
Earliest start date is January 6, 2025.
Position may require evening and/or weekend hours.
Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Salary: $55,000/annual
