JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Materials Science and Engineering in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. The candidate will conduct fundamental research on ferroelectric materials fabrication and characterization. This position requires extensive experience in the areas of ferroelectric materials synthesis and device fabrication/testing. These experiences will be evaluated based on prior research experience and peer-reviewed high-impact factor journal publications. Previous research experience in materials characterization, testbed development, etc. will be beneficial. Priorities will be given to the candidates who have experience in various fabrication techniques such as tape casting, additive manufacturing etc.Further, the candidate should have experience with microstructure analysis via high-resolution microscopies. The candidate will be actively collaborating with multiple academic and industry team members and thus good communication skills are desired. The candidate is expected to participate in the development of project reports and proposals and thus good technical writing skills are highly desired. The research is conducted at Steidle and Innovation Park Buildings at the Penn State University Park Campus under the supervision of Dr. Bed Poudel. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or related fields. They must provide evidence of completion of the Ph.D. degree before the effective date of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Ceramic materials, ferroelectric materials, additive manufacturing, characterization, etc. This is a term position for one year from the start date, with an excellent possibility of renewal for an additional one-year term, contingent on performance and funding.
