JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A postdoctoral scholar researcher position is available in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA in hydrologic and water quality modeling. The selected candidate will work mainly on a USDA funded project on nature-based solutions towards climate resiliency in flood and erosion control. The candidate will be initially working with an already developed ecohydrologic-hydrodynamic (SWAT and LISFLOOD) model and will have opportunity to develop models for multiple watersheds in Pennsylvania using SWAT+ and/or LISFLOOD and improve algorithms in models as needed. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Cibin Raj and will work closely with researchers from Penn State.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field and provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D prior to the effective date of hire. Strong programming skills and experience using ecohydrologic models such as SWAT/SWAT+ and hydrodynamic models such as LISFLOOD or HER-RAS is desirable. The selected candidate must be able to develop and implement research procedures and interpret results. This is a one-year position, with potential for extension based on future funding.
