Postdoctoral Scientist in Epidemiology/Public Health – Focus on Spanish-Speaking Communities
Job Description

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist who has earned their doctorate within the last four years in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have experience in community partnerships, particularly within Spanish-speaking communities, and fluency in Spanish is preferred. This role involves direct engagement with Spanish-speaking communities, and we offer a starting salary of $72,009.60 per year. We can also consider relocation assistance of up to $2,500. We seek highly motivated individuals for careers as independent investigators engaged in epidemiological research. The post-doctoral fellow will receive training in grantsmanship and encouraged to submit grants and first-authored publications. This position is available immediately.

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Research Fellow will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Not responsible for generating grant funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

May assist in preparation of grant proposals, but is not responsible for generating grant funds.May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.Works with Dr. Castellon-Lopez to develop a training planMay assist in preparation of grant proposals, but is not responsible for generating grant funds.Participates in publications and presentations as first author or co-author.Designs studies and performs analyses with guidance from the Principal Investigator.Develops, adapts, and implements new research techniques and protocols.Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout the training period.Meets with Dr. Castellon-Lopez regularly to discuss research progress and plansWorks independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within the area of specialization.Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research projects and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
QualificationsRequirements:Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.
