PostgreSQL Administrator
Description We are offering a position in the financial services industry for a PostgreSQL Administrator. This role is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and involves managing and maintaining our PostgreSQL databases. The successful candidate will have a vital role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and secure PostgreSQL environments, requiring deep technical expertise and excellent problem-solving skills. Responsibilities: • Implement and manage PostgreSQL databases that are scalable and robust to meet business needs • Identify, diagnose, and resolve database performance issues using techniques such as indexing, query optimization, and hardware resource tuning • Develop and manage database backup strategies, including point-in-time recovery, replication, and disaster recovery solutions • Implement and manage database security policies, ensuring adherence to data protection standards and regulations • Use monitoring tools to ensure database health, uptime, and performance, and proactively manage capacity planning and scaling • Automate repetitive tasks like backups, monitoring, and database deployments using scripting languages like Bash, Python, or SQL • Plan and execute PostgreSQL upgrades, migrations, and patching activities with minimal downtime • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards, and promote best practices within the team and across the organization • Collaborate closely with development teams, providing guidance on SQL query optimization, schema design, and database integration • Respond to and troubleshoot critical database issues, ensuring minimal impact on business operations. Requirements • Proficiency in PostgreSQL administration with a demonstrated understanding of its internal architecture, system catalog, and various database objects. • Solid experience with Linux Technologies and Configuration Management. • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft SQL Server. • Familiarity with MySQL database administration, including understanding of MySQL storage engines and database structures. • Proven skills in database optimization and AB Testing. • Expertise in backup technologies and disaster recovery strategies. • Proficiency in Cluster Analysis and its applications in financial services. • Experience with database administration tools and best practices. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues. • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
