General Function
The Visiting Assistant Professor is a non-tenure track position held by an individual who possesses all the qualifications to be appointed at that rank or who has held that rank at another institution. The Visiting Assistant Professor’s teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor.
Description of Primary Duties
Teach physics and/or astronomy courses at all undergraduate levels for physics majors, other science majors, and education majors.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
Additional Qualifications
A PhD in physics, astrophysics, or a related field is required at time of the position start. The successful candidate will teach physics and/or astronomy courses at all undergraduate levels for physics majors, other science majors, and education majors.
