Position Summary

We are looking for a Potato Storage Intern to join us for five months. We are seeking for this individual to start in January 2025 and continue through May.

 

This position will ideally be based in our Burley, ID location, which is in the largest potato-growing region in North America. The position may require travel to any of our other growing regions and does require travel to the various field office locations and processing plants in North America. Travel will also be expected to regional potato conferences and grower meetings. A valid passport is a requirement for this position. 

 

This internship will be responsible for the start-up of new sensor technology in potato storage, which will help our business be proactive and prepare for business contingencies in potato storage. The position will require the person to utilize the technology within potato storages and to analyze the data from that technology. In addition, the intern will evaluate previously trialed technology, also analyzing that data collection.  

 

The Team

This position will work with a variety of team members across McCain, as each region has a horizontal team to work with and learn from. This role will work closely with the three members of the storage team: one located in Idaho, one located in Wisconsin, and the Storage Agronomy Manager for North America, who directly manages this position. This role will also gain experience working with the vendor for our technology team.

 

What You Will Be Working On

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in potato storage, agricultural and manufacturingTo work with the new technology in a hands-on setting within potato storagesTo visit the two North America locations of the Field Office and trial the new technology within numerous storage structuresEvaluate the technology and analyze the data from the storage trialsBased upon the outcomes of the trials, provide a recommendation for the new technology

 

What You Need to Be Successful

Prior potato storage experience is preferredCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in a related area required Have a preliminary understanding of Data Warehousing methodologiesHaving a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.Be an effective, collaborative team member.
