Job Description

Job Overview

The Pouching Operator will operate the pouch machine in a safe and controlled manner while obtaining high operating standards for quality and productivity.

Job Duties:

Set-up and operate machine to meet product requirementsTroubleshoot equipment and product issuesPerform and document quality checks and testingConduct trial runs, monitor machine workflow and pack finished goods for shippingAssist in preventative maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipmentAssist with all Inspector/Operator functions including product inspection, packaging of product, area clean up, quality testing requirements, operating machine through break times, etc.Effectively communicate activities and issues to others at shift changeMonitor and direct the activities of the Inspector Packer and advising guiding as neededTrain Inspector/Operators and Inspector/Packers to a comfortable level of proficiency that will allow them to run through breaks and fill-in as an Operator as neededEnsure proper and accurate set up of the pouch machineEnsure machine is operating according to process specificationsRecord production information in SAPActively participate in all Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality initiativesInvolvement and support of continuous improvement as assigned to teams, roles in maintaining DLM changes and daily in changes made as well as updating machine/department boards as assigned.Practices safety at all times in compliance with company and department safety guidelinesPerforms housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work environmentAll other duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Qualifications/Requirements

  Formal Qualifications and Experience

1-2 years flexible packaging equipment experience preferredTechnical and mechanical knowledge of bag/pouch machines preferredHS diploma or equivalent/Technical experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors

Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safelyProficient mathematical and measurement skills.  Knowledge of metric conversions.Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales and hand toolsAlert state of mind to avoid safety hazardsPouch/Bag making and film handling fundamentalsRead dimensional graphic templates in both metric/standard and apply to finished productRegular attendance.Frequent interaction with others.

Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.Ability to communicate both written and verbally.Standing up to 12 hours per day.Frequent use of hands and wrists.Required to stand, sit, squat, bend, walk, lift (as noted above) and climb frequently throughout the day on a daily basis.100% of the time spending in a manufacturing environment.Ability to wear all personal protective equipment as required.Occasional stooping, kneeling and bending.
