Summary: The Chemical Assistant will perform various manual and administrative tasks to set-up and assist in the production of polyurethane foam. Operate a computerized panel board, cut off saw and relieve other operators. Assist in operation of foam machine. Mix chemical formulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (This description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continual basis. It does not exclude other duties that may be assigned.)
o Review formulation sheet provided by supervisor to produce polyurethane foam.
o Operate computerized panel board, cut off saw and relieve other operators.
o Mix chemical formulations.
o Transport product and materials with lift truck.
o Read, count and mark foam buns.
o Perform necessary duties to load and unload chemicals when needed.
o Responsible for following environmental and DOT guidelines.
o Follow established procedures in maintaining production equipment.
o Responsible for process control.
o Record process variables at all stations.
o Follow established work instructions.
o Responsible for inspecting conveyor and pour machine from beginning to end as well as clean up.
o Assist with pouring line step up within specifications of production needs.
o Assist with disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the equipment.
o Properly drum and label chemical waste maintaining inventory documentation.
o Operate metal cutting saw / pipe threader as needed.
o Operate hoist as needed.
o Eligible to train as a Hazmat Team Member responding to and cleaning up chemical spills if they occur following written guidelines of the Hazardous response Procedures.
o Clean and maintain respirator when needed in required area according to respirator program guidelines.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
o Responsible for good housekeeping in work area.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Education & Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age to perform this job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:
 High School diploma or GED equivalent required; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
 Aptitude to compute ratio, percent, interpret drawings, diagrams, and graphs.
 Basic computer skills.
 Must be able to read a tape measure.
 Lift truck certification required.
 Pre-employment and annual pouring physicals required.
 Valid driver license required.

 Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
 Quantity – Meets productivity standards; Completes work in a timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.
 Safety – Observes all safety procedures and policies; Reports potentially unsafe conditions to supervisor; Uses equipment and materials properly.
 Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
 Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
