HDR is seeking an experienced Power Civil EIT to support our national Renewables and Power Delivery programs. This position will be based primarily in HDR’s office in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC, providing opportunities for local team support and collaboration. The Power Civil EIT will support utility-scale solar and substation projects, including coordination with other disciplines across HDR and support site development projects, construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction.
The position provides an opportunity for direct engagement with external clients and geographically diverse project teams. Previous design experience in the areas of site layout (ordinance review and vehicle turning movements), grading, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control is strongly preferred.
In the role of Power Civil EIT, we’ll count on you to:
Conduct analyses to develop power-related design options or recommendations for renewable, power delivery, and right of way projectsAssist in the preparation of project deliverables (examples include engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and project specifications)Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and proceduresComplete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers / professionals on larger projectsWork with assistance from Project Engineers, other Engineers In-Training (EITs), Designers, or BIM Specialists as neededPerform other duties as neededWork closely with other project team members on multidiscipline projectsPreferred Qualifications
4 to 6 years of experience in site development and civil designCivil/Renewable design background in Solar PV, BESS and substationsExcellent communication, leadership, and planning skills, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team membersStrong operating knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3DKnowledge of modeling software such as Hydraflow, Storm CAD, Hydraflow Hydrographs, HydroCAD, etc.Preference given to local candidatesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in EngineeringEngineer In Training (EIT) certificateComputer skills in Microsoft OfficeAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
