Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Functional Consultant to work closely with clients, understanding their business needs and translating them into use cases that can be implemented using Power ON. Power ON extends Power BI's functionality by providing write back capability. This role involves engaging with stakeholders to scope and define use cases, estimate implementation efforts, and deliver robust Power ON solutions that drive business insights and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of business acumen, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement & Business Analysis

Engage with business stakeholders to understand their reporting, analytics, and data visualization needsConduct discovery workshops to gather requirements, define use cases, and assess data sourcesTranslate business requirements into clear functional and technical specificationsProvide recommendations on Power ON best practices, governance, and adoption strategies.

Solution Design & Implementation

Design scalable and efficient Power ON solutions, including data models, dashboards, and reportsDevelop datasets, measures (DAX), and visuals to support business insightsMaintain data accuracy, integrity, and security within the Power BI environmentOptimise performance of reports and dashboards for a seamless user experienceImplement Power ON configurations, including workspaces, security, and sharing policies

Effort Estimation & Project Delivery

Estimate project effort, timeline, and resource requirements for Power ON implementationsDefine project milestones and collaborate with project managers to ensure timely deliveryDevelop prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate solutions before full implementationSupport UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and gather feedback for refinements

Client Training & Support

Conduct training sessions for end-users to drive adoption of Power ON solutionsProvide post-implementation support, troubleshooting, and performance tuningAct as a trusted advisor to clients on Power ON strategies and future enhancements

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related fieldExperience in Power BI development and business intelligence consultingExperience in industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, or manufacturing is a plusMicrosoft Power BI certification (e.g., PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst)

Technical Skills

Strong expertise in Power BI (Power Query, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and M Query)Experience designing data models and ETL processes within Power BIProficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data from various sourcesUnderstanding of Azure services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL)Knowledge of Power Automate and Power Apps integration with Power BIExperience with non-Microsoft data sources (Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Synapse, Big Query) advantageousRow Level Security (Analysis Services, PowerBI.com, SQL Server)Performance optimisation (Partitioning, Understanding of columnar database concept, SQL indexing)Troubleshooting (SQL Profiler or other profiler tools, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Power BI datasets, RLS security)

Business & Consulting Skills

Strong ability to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutionsExperience in estimating implementation efforts and defining project scopesAbility to work with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executivesExcellent communication and presentation skills for client-facing interactionsProven track record of delivering end-to-end Power BI solutions in a consulting or business settingWillingness to travel to client sites as needed
