Job Description SummaryMaintain urgent and routine repairs and maintenance of the boiler system, water treatment devices and emergency generators used in the facility and outlying clinics owned and operated by Southeast Health, to ensure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Engineering Department, Southeast Health, state and local codes. With minimal supervision perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all Power Plant equipment assigned to the Power Plant. With minimal supervision complete work requestors generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner to assure customer satisfaction.
Job DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent. At least six years of experience preferred in operation of all Power Plant Equipment. Knowledge of water treatment chemistry and procedures. General computer knowledge. Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes. Work rotating shifts, weekends, and days. Valid drivers’ license. Must pass Level II Power Plant Technician exam.  

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation. Must be able to promote positive behavior in others. Ability to utilize the internet, intranet and e-mail. Ability to utilize radio and paging system. 

SKILLS:

Maintain and repair all Power Plant assigned equipment with minor supervision. Maintain and monitor the proper water chemical tests to assure that we have the proper chemical balance in the water system of the facility and outlying clinics. Make rounds, document and monitor the gauges on the boilers, chillers and water softeners. Coordinate with Parts & Supply Coordinator to assure that we keep an adequate inventory of parts for routine maintenance and emergency repairs of boiler room equipment. Maintain accurate records and safety checks on each piece of equipment for which the Power Plant is responsible using the Equipment Management System (Work Order System) documenting the prompted information according to hospital policy and procedure. Perform and document the weekly generator no load test and the monthly load test that is required by DNV and local codes following policy and procedures of Southeast Health with minimal supervision.    Evaluate and make repairs to water pumps, generators, steam valves, water treatment equipment, and pipes with minimal supervision. Complete all assigned work requestors generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner ensuring patient, visitor and hospital personnel satisfaction, for the facility and outlying clinics and document prompted information in the Work Requestor Program (Work Order System). Assist Power Plant Maintenance Assistant(s) with disposable and/or sterilization of medical waste, when necessary, to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and hospital personnel following national, state and local safety codes and policy and procedure of Southeast Health.  

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude following policy and procedures of Southeast Health, wearing   hospital ID badge at all times.

Be willing to work any position or any shift as assigned by the Supervisor CEP.
