Position Summary:
The Power Process Engineer is a member of the North America Engineering and Technology Center. The Engineering & Technology team is a group of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who lead and enable excellence in the ADM manufacturing system.
As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders and other SMEs across the organization. Specifically in the utilities area, you will work to develop and apply utility improvement strategies and technology across all campus functions, with a primary focus being ADM’s utility scale cogeneration facility.
This position will use technical, strategic, and organizational expertise to assist a multidiscipline team of professionals in the management of critical mechanical utility assets through all aspects of equipment life. This work will help to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency of existing systems while providing technical and strategic assistance in modernization and strategic improvements.
As a recognized leader in your field local, regional, and global collaboration will be necessary to assist and align with other manufacturing locations to ensure continuity and consistency of service.
Essential Job Functions:Lead and support ADM safety policiesLead in utility technology, strategy and coordinationProvide engineering leadership to resolve complex problemsSupport and drive progress on ADM’s Sustainability and Conservation GoalsPerform as Utilities SME (Subject Matter Experts) as part of a capital project development and design review teamGenerate equipment specificationResearch and promote modern technologies that improve efficiency and increase optimizationEvaluate system/equipment failures and collaborate to determine root causePerform field work facilitating and directing internal company and contracted personnelCoordinate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and various levels of managementProvide technical support and training to others when necessaryProvide update and documentation for FEL (Front End Loading) process and SOP/GuidelinesWill routinely work around boiler systems with elevated temperatures and pressuresCritical Knowledge:BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical EngineeringStrong safety knowledge and understanding of Cogen/Boiler house and utility operationsAbility to explain and drive compliance with SOP’s and safe work practicesAbility to explain and drive compliance with all jurisdictional code requirementsAbility to recognize, assess, and provide opportunities for energy efficiency and optimizationFull understanding of the principles of operation of water treatment, combustion, electrical generation and distribution, cooling tower and compressed airAbility to interpret flow diagrams and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram)Preferred, but not necessary, experience in ADM PE, FEL, and WAVE systemsCritical Skills:Personally committed to working safely and maintaining a safe working environmentExcellent written/verbal communication and positive interpersonal skillsWell-developed independent judgment and problem solvingWork effectively as part of a team or independentlyExcellent organizational skills, able to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasksContinuous process improvement mindset driving best practices and reliabilityTask oriented and self-motivated, able to function without direct supervisionCritical Abilities: Physical ability to work in an industrial setting. These settings will at times expose the employee to extreme temperatures, require walking, standing, and the climbing of stairs and ladders to perform tasks and inspections. This setting will require the wearing of personal protective equipment as well as the movement through constricted or restricted spaces.Perform overnight travel from time. (
