The Budget Team within RPA operates in a fast-paced environment, supporting Tacoma Power’s biennial budget development while creating and improving processes and analyses related to budget monitoring and management. As the Project Financial Specialist for Tacoma Power, you will serve as the business process owner for capital project and portfolio budget administration, as well as Subject Matter Expert for Power’s use of Project Systems within our accounting system, SAP. These roles include maintaining established processes and procedures related to project administration, advising staff at all levels of current policies and procedures, and ensuring quality control of associated documentation and accounting. The ideal candidate for this position will be detail-oriented with a high personal standard of accountability, as well as experienced at guiding and providing service to a broad spectrum of stakeholders, such as project managers, engineers, and associated supervisors. This individual will be organized and thrive in a fast-paced operational environment, demonstrating resourcefulness and clear communication skills to clear potential barriers and execute assigned tasks. The individual selected for this position will join the broader Rates, Planning, & Analysis (RPA) team. The department uses these strengths to best serve Tacoma Power and its customers as trusted financial leaders, delivering objective, quality, and data-driven analysis to sustain Tacoma Power’s financial strength and affordability. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement upon the completion and approval of a telework request. Essential Duties: This position is primarily responsible for the development and administration of Tacoma Power’s capital budget and leads the implementation of Tacoma Power’s Capital Program portfolio, including the technical creation and management of the portfolio of projects in SAP, as well as the management of all associated project financial administration processes and documentation. This involves: + Leading organization-wide business processes; + Accurately performing complex financial data entry procedures within the SAP system; + Researching and gathering data to prepare actionable reports related to project budget activity and performance; + Performing as the primary lead for the technical testing of the Project Systems module of SAP for Tacoma Power; + Serving as an internal consultant and liaison with Tacoma Power Sections to provide budget program guidance.
