Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Power System Protection Engineer that is looking to work in a fast-paced and challenging position with continuous opportunities to grow and learn. As a Power System Protection Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
Maintain and improve knowledge of power systems, focus area*, and all related SEL products.Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.Applies principles, theories, standard techniques, and concepts to provide solutions to a variety of problems.Engineering Development Program graduate, where applicable.Contributes to product specifications, application and testing software, and literature.Participates in SEL marketing and sales activities, industry technical meetings, and conferences.Can teach SEL University courses within core area.Publishes application guides, notes, template guides, software tools, and/or technical conference papers.Increasing contributions through customer feedback process, IMI teams, and contributing entries to AE FAQ or knowledge database.This job might be for you if:
You have 2+ years of experience or relevant education in power systems, industry practices, protection, automation, communication, metering.You have experience using SEL products.You have the ability to write and speak English coherently.You listen carefully; provides positive, helpful and professional communication to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.You demonstrate composure and professionalism under difficult circumstances.You take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. Experiments to find new solutions.You create a positive and motivating working environment for all.You have proven technical training, speaking, writing, and customer service skills.You have the ability to direct daily work activities with general supervision.You have the ability to travel.Houston, TX-This position is located in Houston, TX. Pay Range Data:
Associate Application Engineer $76,010 - $118,910. Application Engineer $87,340- $136,400. (etc.) Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
