Power Systems Compliance Engineer
What The Role Is

Reporting to the Director, Ops Electrical Engineering, the Power Systems Compliance Engineer will provide static and transient system modeling, power management, and related technical expertise in support of Electrical Regulatory Compliance for Battery, Solar, and Wind renewable power plants. This person must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in the power generation, transmission, or distribution sectors.

This position is based in Scottsdale, AZ.

What You'll Be Doing Wind, Solar, and Battery Systems – Generation Fleet Support Assist in troubleshooting through evaluation of real and reactive power system control and response Provide technical support for fellow engineers, procurement, and other support groups through steady state and dynamic systems analysis Maintain modeling files and related data of plant power systems Assess design modifications and changes to power management requirements Plant NERC and ISO Support Provide NERC Support for the Electrical Regulatory Compliance team Provide NERC technical evaluations or engineering reviews required for sites to comply with standards Execution or management of Electrical Engineering owned NERC standards: PRC-024, Frequency and Voltage Protection Settings for Generating Resources VAR-001, Voltage and Reactive Control FAC-008, Facility Ratings MOD-025, Real and Reactive Power Capability MOD-026, Plant Volt/Var Control Functions MOD-027, Active Power/Frequency Control Functions MOD-032, Power System Modeling and Analysis Support various Requests for Information (RFIs) Technical support and management of power engineering requirements from ISOs and TOPs (Texas RE, CAISO, ISO-NE, etc) Transient, real and reactive plant modeling execution or review (PSLF, PSSE, PSCAD) Review/validate new site models What You'll Bring B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related degree Five years of relevant in the power generation, transmission, or distribution sectors Must understand electrical power management and distribution Must be knowledgeable with reactive power and load flow analysis Experience with PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD modeling programs Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and test reports Must successfully function as a member and/or leader of a team Must be able to maintain a professional and positive company image and positive relationships with owners, customers, and external contractors Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing May be required to work flexible work hours This position doesn’t travel often, but can be expected to meet colleagues on site at scheduled times, no more than 10% expected If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications but see yourself contributing, please submit your resume.
