About this RoleThe Power Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical power systems for utility, industrial, and commercial clients. The role involves conducting power system studies, providing technical support, and ensuring that electrical infrastructure meets safety, reliability, and efficiency standards. The Power Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions for system improvements, new installations, and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in power systems and a keen ability to solve complex engineering challenges.
What You'll Do Perform power system studies including load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, protective device coordination, and harmonic analysis.Design, analyze, and optimize electrical power systems for utility, industrial, and commercial projects.Develop and review electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for substation, distribution, and transmission systems.Conduct system reliability and stability assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, NESC, and NFPA.Provide technical support and consultation to clients regarding system performance, upgrades, and compliance with safety regulations.Perform field testing and commissioning of electrical power systems, including transformers, switchgear, relays, and circuit breakers.Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.Participate in the development of protection and control schemes for electrical systems, ensuring proper coordination of protective devices.Assist with the preparation of detailed reports and recommendations based on system analysis and findings.Stay current with advancements in power systems technology, software tools, and industry standards to improve service offerings. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably in utility, industrial, or consulting environments.Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, or PowerWorld.Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, as well as protection and control schemes.Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (IEEE, NFPA, NESC, NEC, etc.).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
