The Opportunity

As the Power Systems Engineering Consultant, you will have the opportunity to provide consulting services in Grid Operations Transformation with a focus on Operational Technologies (OT) Systems Integration for Electric Distribution SCADA/Outage Management System (OMS)/Distribution Management System (DMS), and Enterprise OT-IT Integration. 

 

As a consultant, you will participate in a team of business and technology consultants in defining project implementation plan, developing solutions and requirements, lead deployment of technology and applications, and supporting clients with their digital transformation needs (technology, business processes, data, and organizational readiness).

Black & Veatch’s Strategic Advisory & Lifecycle Resiliency Services are an integrated portfolio of strategic consulting and operation resiliency services that apply across the client’s entire investment-to-operations lifecycle commitments. Included are Strategic Advisory, Industrial Cybersecurity, and Operating Assets.

Key Responsibilities Support client interviews, workshops and facilitate engagement among stakeholders  Work with clients to document and/or discover current and future states business processes  Develop deliverables such as Business Requirements, Business Processes, Business Process Impact Document, Functional Design, etc.   Provide functional and/or technical expertise in various aspects of Digital Grid, Grid Modernization and OT/SCADA   Lead and/or participate in systems implementation services including software deployment, systems engineering and configuration, application testing and defects resolution.  Lead and/or participate in several project workstreams throughout all phases of the project – analyze, design, build, deploy, test, and go-live.  Manage client expectations within defined scope of engagement  Lead and coach junior resources and business analysts as part of the engagement   Management Responsibilities Individual ContributorMinimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience 4+ years experience in a business/consulting environment All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree  Demonstrated expertise in Requirement Traceability Management (RTM), Application Testing  Knowledge of and direct experience in ADMS, Distribution SCADA and Outage Management System.  Bachelor’s degree (business, or engineering or Information Systems) or relevant work experience.   Knowledge of Electric utilities operations functions and associated processes  5 years of experience in Utility and/or as part of an OT or AMI technology vendor deployment team working with Utilities  Knowledge and experience in modeling distribution systems, power applications simulations, power flow analysis, and advanced applications tuning (such as fault location isolation service restoration, voltage/var optimization) Grid Operations  Certifications

Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
