Summary This job opportunity is for an POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, position description D1807000, within the NJ 177th MXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled powered support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits. Responsibilities As an POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10, you will: Be responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous operating instructions and test procedures to troubleshoot and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines Perform intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE Perform maintenance data collection and prepares other required forms Participate and assists in conducting the necessary safety programs Requirements Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Area of Consideration: CAT 4: Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey Air National Guard. Security Clearance Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: A1C/E-3 and Max: TSgt/E-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications General Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment. Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
