Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Powertrain Project Lead to support High Time in Service (HTIS) Quality Projects using DFSS and 8D processes. This role focuses on meeting aggressive timelines regarding warranty spend and failure rate reduction targets.
ResponsibilitiesSupport HTIS Quality Projects using DFSS and 8D processes.Rapidly work through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, Verify including root cause identification and verification.Evaluate high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems focusing on design-related issues, supplier quality, or manufacturing defect-related issues.Analyze warranty data/trends and part returns to identify root causes.Identify and verify root causes and implement corrective actions (ICA/PCA) and prevent recurrence.Design, execute, or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing to identify root cause, replicate quality issues, and validate solutions.Report to management on project status and results, interface regularly with quality and core engineers.Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to resolve quality issues quickly related to warranty and repairs.Understand different types of repairs and set up work plans, follow-up, and aggressively move to reduce timelines to fix issues.Lead or attend team meetings.Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.Proactively follow through on responsible activities along with required documentation to meet milestones and deliverables.Essential SkillsWarranty and failure mode analysis.Experience working on customer concerns and resolutions (problem solving).Automotive Powertrain experience/knowledge.Project management skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years for Intermediate level or 5+ yearsDetail-oriented focus in Powertrain engineering, warranty, and manufacturing.Experience working with warranty issues and failure model analysis.Experience resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.Experience working in quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.Work Environment
You will work in a dynamic environment that involves regular interfacing with quality and core engineers, as well as management. The role includes both analytical and physical testing at various levels from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing. The position requires proactive follow-through on responsibilities and documentation to meet project milestones and deliverables.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.50/hr.
