Job Title: Engine Calibration Engineer - Intermediate
Job Description

The Driveability and Emissions (D&E) Calibration Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing best practice calibration solutions and performing diagnostic verification testing. This role involves calibrating and validating software related to engine torque delivery, emissions, and regulatory compliance. The engineer will also collect data to understand the variability of diagnostic strategies, validate calibrations, release calibrations, support issue resolution, and provide input to hardware designs as necessary. The candidate should expect to travel 4-8 weeks throughout the year for system validation and verification.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement best practice calibration solutions.Perform diagnostic verification testing.Calibrate and validate in-field and in-plant diagnostics.Calibrate and validate software for engine torque delivery and emissions compliance.Collect and analyze data to minimize false passes/fails and ensure robustness.Validate calibration according to DVP&R.Release calibrations and support issue resolution for corporate fleet and in-field concerns.Provide input to hardware designs as necessary.Prepare regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.2+ years of experience in Powertrain systems calibration development, Driveability and Emissions calibration.Knowledge of internal combustion engines.Understanding of CARB diagnostic regulations.Working knowledge of calibration tools (INCA / ATI), emissions regulations, and powertrain technologies.Fundamental knowledge in MatLab / Simulink.Utilizing multi-functional tool chains, including in-house developed calibration tools (I-Box, DC Plot & HIL testers) and industry standard calibration tools (ETAS INCA, MatLab, CANalyzer).Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to upper management.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Master of Science in Computer Science from an ABET accredited university.3+ years of experience in engine development, powertrain systems development, engine calibration, control systems development, diagnostics within the automotive industry.Knowledge of calibration processes using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques.Proficiency in advanced simulation tools.Proficiency in MatLab / Simulink.Knowledge and understanding of CAN Communication protocols.Work Environment

The position is onsite at CTC and requires attendance 3-5 days a week. The role may involve travel for system validation and verification for 4-8 weeks throughout the year.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $44.17 - $44.17/hr.
